An ASA designation requiring re-certification examinations and continuing gemological and appraisal education including USPAP. The American Society of Appraisers (ASA) is an international valuation organization that teaches, tests, accredits and refers professional appraisers.

Diamonds:

Graded: while mounted or unmounted
Clarity: including the rating system used
Measurements: indicating width and depth in millimeters
Enhancements: stating type such as irradiated, laser drilled, fracture filled, etc.
Color: including rating system used and noting flourescence and enhancements
Cut: includes any information that affects value such as dimensions, inter-relationships between table size, crown height and pavilion depth percentages, overall symmetry, visibility of bowtie, and elongation
Carat weight: whether provided or estimated by formula
Damage: plotting of chips
